Between two worlds

In our lives there are many conflicts that we face, but the struggle to understand the conflict between love and understanding is very crucial to overcome. In greater detail a person who loves you no matter what happens versus a person who understands you completely.  A classic example of this struggle would be the struggle of a parent and a boyfriend, your parents will always be there for you no matter what, but your boyfriend also loves you dearly and he understands you, however he is not a permanent person in your life. Therefore, any average teenager or young adult does face this struggle at some point of time in their life.
Looking at this conflict in detail, I believe the key reason for this conflict is also “possessiveness” even you parents what as much quality time with you as your boyfriend does. Like if your parents had planned a family dinner and they spent hours inviting people and it was a big event for them, however on the same day your boyfriend is celebrating his birthday. Naturally most people would try and go for their boyfriend’s birthday, however most parents will never understand this, because they might feel ignored as well as irritated. But for the person the boyfriend will be the only focus, also because there is so much pressure to keep the relationship going and successful, however with a parent that extra work is not required.
The other side of this coin is those few teenagers or young adults who want to keep their parents also happy and respect their relationship. So with that same birthday situation, the person might not need to lie to go out so that they can attend their boyfriend’s birthday, because their parents would completely not understand. So the person might lie saying they have something more important alike a friend’s dog died or something more important. So this whole conflict breaks the trust between a parent and teenager and but consequently the boyfriend’s relationship build into something stronger. So this is one good example of the conflict between unconditional love and understanding.
When considering my adaption to a new place and college, I could identify another example, the conflict between my new friends and my old friends. It’s not exactly love and understanding but it is social pressure versus new surroundings. So my old friends are very important to me and they understand me however I need to invest lots of time and effort to build new friends at Flame. So this conflict between the new and the old becomes an issue. For example if a my old friend wanted to Skype randomly since she was going through a tough time in her life and she wanted to share something, but at the same time a new friend wanted to go and chill together at some other place. Even though deep down in your heart you know that your old friend needs you due to social pressure you the other option. And intertwined in all this is your long-distance relationship with your boyfriend which takes tremendously amount of time and understanding for it too work. So the struggle between these two worlds the people who love you unconditionally versus the people who understand you, always plays its roles disguised in different situations. I do believe that this struggle is never ending one, and I personally believe that both are very important to me my parents as well as the people who understand me.

Qualifications to be a Journalist

Journalists write about anything and everything, but when someone queries their techniques of work, they get livid. With the help of the internet these day, anyone can try and become a journalist. Using blog sites and social sites such as twitter, bloggers think of themselves as journalists. In the earlier days, because of being an undeveloped profession, journalism didn't require any level of qualifications. But today, Journalism is a profession, and according to me every profession should have a certain level of qualification for practice. If a person is not qualified for the job, they shouldn't be called professionals. Every job requires a level of qualification, for example, if I have a passion for something and I do it just for fun that would be known as my hobby and not my profession, whereas if I had a qualification for that particular job, I would have much more knowledge and experience in the field. Another issue emerging is the state of journalism today, unqualified journalists are recruited due to lack of man power, the qualified journalists, having more knowledge and understanding about journalism, are still at the same level as unqualified journalists. Many established and successful journalists never went to school, but as the chairman of Press Conference of India, Makarand Katju said “they were good journalists despite that, and not because of it and Many others could have become great journalists and blossomed, but did not because they did not have formal training.” I totally agree with him. The biggest media firms have started having a minimum requirement for journalists. I think this is a great idea as it filters out the under qualified and it would be impartial to the qualified journalists. I think every field in this contemporary world is advanced and requires a level of understanding, passion and knowledge, comprising journalism.
